The H100 series is a new electric-diesel train introduced in spring 2020 to replace the KiHa 40 series still operating across Hokkaido.
Starting from some of the 2022 additional units, wrapped trains featuring designs inspired by the unique characteristics of various regions in Hokkaido were introduced.
These trains can also be used as sightseeing trains. Their interior design differs from regular trains, featuring special removable tables.
These two cars mainly operate on regular services on the Soya Line (Asahikawa–Nayoro), Sekihoku Line (Asahikawa–Abashiri), Senmo Line (Abashiri–Midori), and Furano Line (Asahikawa–Furano), and are also used as temporary trains during peak travel periods.

.Nemuro Line wrapped train: printed illustrations vividly depict the seasonal scenery and local specialties of towns along the line
.Soya Line wrapped train: printed illustrations feature the railway and Teshio River with straight and intersecting lines, using geometric patterns to represent the scenery along the line
.Side windows reproduce green glass effect
.Headlights, tail lights, and front display are equipped with always-on circuit boards with ON/OFF switch
.Headlights, tail lights, and front display illuminate with white LEDs
.Front display is selectable and comes with stickers
