Imperial Train Specification

The EF81 is an AC/DC dual-voltage electric locomotive manufactured by the Japanese National Railways (JNR) from 1968 (Showa 43). It features the ability to run directly on both 50Hz and 60Hz AC electrified sections and DC electrified sections, and was widely used throughout Japan.

This product is modeled after locomotive No. 81, which pulled the Imperial Train on the Joban Line and Mito Line during the 1985 "International Technology Exposition" (Tsukuba Exposition). It reproduces the appearance of the locomotive specifically for the Imperial Train, with its rose-pink body, silver stripe, and silver accents on the couplers and handrails.

The actual locomotive later received the Hokutosei livery and served for a long time as the Hokutosei train's traction engine, but in 2014 (Heisei 26), it was repainted in the Imperial Train specification color scheme.
