Kato 7014-1 N Scale DD13 Late Form

The DD13 was Japan's first mass-produced shunting diesel locomotive, developed by the Japanese National Railways (JNR). A total of 416 locomotives were added over a nine-year period, beginning in 1958. They are broadly divided into early and late models, each with distinctive exteriors and bogies. They contributed to the smokeless modernization of marshalling yards nationwide, and were primarily used for shunting in yards across the country, pulling freight trains on short routes. They also pulled passenger trains on the overnight local "Hayatama" and on some routes (Suigun Line, Shimizu Port Line, Amagasaki Port Line, and Wadamisaki Line).

◆Just like the real thing, the model is perfect for shunting, as well as for short-distance freight trains, passenger trains, and mixed trains. With a minimum radius of R150 for passing, the model is ideal for small layouts and tight spaces.

Key Features
① Recreates the configuration of the 14th and 15th series (No. 203-264) manufactured between 1964 and 1966, as well as the high-horsepower, non-multiple-headed configuration of the circa 1975 high-power group.
② Recreates the characteristics of later models with a modernized appearance, featuring dual shield beam headlights and wing spring bogies.
③ Realistically recreates features such as an increased-capacity fuel tank and the resulting repositioned main air reservoir.
④ Signal flares and whistles are included. H-rubbers are gray.
⑤ Optional license plates: "211," "225," "248," "257" / Optional manufacturer's plates: "Mitsubishi" and "JR Kaisha"
⑥ Flywheel-equipped power unit ensures stable running.
⑦ Arnold couplers are standard, and replacement knuckle couplers are included.
