Oha 35 Blue (Standard Type)
● The Oha 35 series was one of the representative passenger car types of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) before the war. Over 2,000 units were mass-produced, making it the most numerous passenger car series in Japan. It debuted in 1938 (Showa 13) with a gabled, rounded roof, 1-meter wide passenger windows, TR23 bogies, and a structure that made extensive use of welding. Production ceased in 1942 (Showa 17), but when manufacturing resumed after the war, due to difficulties in obtaining materials and advancements in construction methods, it emerged with a unique form that can be classified as a "post-war type." The bogies were also improved from the TR23 type with plain bearings to the TR34 type with domestically produced roller bearings. Widely deployed throughout Japan, it could be seen in service everywhere, from express trains to local trains.
◆ This product features separate parts for the roof ventilators, allowing you to enjoy upgraded detail. The standard type will feature the blue livery of the modernized passenger cars, while the post-war type will feature the brown livery from before the modernization. This allows you to recreate the transitional period seen from the 1960s onward. Many locomotives from the JNR (Japanese National Railways) era, including the simultaneously released <3087-1 ED71 1st type>, are recommended as traction engines.
