Kato 3066-E N-scale EF81 81 Hokutosei Livery


●When the EF81 was in service, some cars were painted in "Hokutosei Livery," featuring a red body and a large shooting star emblazoned on it. The 81st locomotive is the only one of these, unique in that it was formerly used to pull the Hokutosei sleeper train, and is adorned with silver trim throughout. Its operation at Tabata Depot was not limited to pulling the Hokutosei sleeper express, but also included the Akebono and Cassiopeia sleeper expresses, special trains, and freight trains, making it a versatile locomotive. In August 2014, it was restored to its official livery of Red No. 13 (rose pink), and it continues to operate today.

◆A new addition to the lineup is the EF81 81, characterized by its silver trim throughout. This time, we're releasing the "Hokutosei Livery" featuring a large shooting star emblem on the Red No. 2 body. It is ideal for pulling the 10-831/832 24-series sleeper express "Hokutosei" (Deluxe formation), which is scheduled for simultaneous reproduction.

① This model features the EF81 No. 81, which was active in the "Hokutosei" color scheme, in its 2002 and later versions.
② The exterior of the Red No. 2 body (including the side windows) is beautifully reproduced with a shooting star mark.
③ The silver decorations on various parts, such as the handrails under the front windows, on both sides of the crew door, and on the section nameplate holder, are reproduced.
④ The front guide handrails and release lever are reproduced in silver.
⑤ The front wipers and side vertical bars are silver, while the H-rubbers are black.
⑥ The slotless motor ensures smooth and quiet running.
⑦ Headlights illuminate (using warm white LEDs).
⑧ Includes license plate: "EF81 81," manufacturer's plate: "Hitachi," and quick headmarks: "Hokutosei" and "Cassiopeia."
⑨ Includes a silver Arnold coupler as standard. A replacement silver knuckle coupler is also included.
