Kato 10-745-1 N Scale BR 175 DR 6-car set.

The East German State Railway's flagship express diesel railcar, the VT18.16 (BR175), rivaled the West German TEE.
● The VT18.16 is an express diesel railcar manufactured by the East German State Railway (DR) in the 1960s as a showpiece for the country. Each leading car was equipped with a 900 hp engine (1,000 hp for mass-produced cars), giving it a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The name VT18.16 was derived from the German word "Verbrennungistriebwagen," meaning diesel railcar. After a change in naming conventions, the name was changed to BR175, and the trains operated internationally in four- to six-car configurations. It is particularly famous for its role on the "Windbona" service between Berlin and Vienna (Austria), becoming synonymous with the type. After its retirement, the trains were preserved throughout Germany, and one train is currently being restored by a preservation organization with the aim of returning it to operational use as an international train in 2025.

◆This is a still-popular East German National Railways express diesel railcar. This six-car set recreates the train's original specifications from the time it was in service after being renamed BR175 in the 1970s, allowing you to freely enjoy it in 4- to 6-car formations, just like the real thing. A "revival" four-car set, currently undergoing restoration for its return to service, is also available. Enjoy it alongside the European-style ICE4 products.
