Product Introduction
With the extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, the railway landscape of the Hokuriku region has undergone a dramatic transformation. However, amidst these changes, one train continues to support local transportation: the Limited Express "Noto Kakeru".
Before the opening of the Kanazawa-Tsuruga section of the Hokuriku Shinkansen in March 2024, the Hokuriku Main Line was a busy line, with numerous Limited Express trains, such as the "Thunderbird" and "White Heron," running between Osaka and Nagoya, earning it the nickname "Limited Express Express Highway".
However, with the Shinkansen extension to Tsuruga, the routes of these Limited Express trains have been shortened, with Tsuruga now serving as both their origin and destination. On the other hand, the "Noto Kakeru" Limited Express, running from Kanazawa to Nanao and Wakura Onsen on the Noto Peninsula, continues to operate, becoming the only regular Limited Express line still in operation in the region.
Currently, this line is operated by the 683 series 2000 series trains that previously served on the Thunderbird line.
This train, once a major limited express train on the Hokuriku Line, has now been transformed into a passenger train connecting the Noto Peninsula, continuing its role as a leader in regional transportation and ushering in a "second spring."
