289 Series "Kounotori/Kinosaki" 3-Car Add-on Set
● The 289 series is a limited express DC electric train created by modifying the 683 series 2000 series, which was used for the limited express "Shirasagi," to replace the 381 series, which had been used for the limited express "Kuroshio," "Kounotori," "Kinosaki," and "Hashidate." Significant changes can be seen, such as the removal of AC equipment from the roof, the removal of equipment from the central part of the car body, and changes to the window arrangement due to the conversion of the Green Car to a half-compartment. The 289 series used for the limited express "Kounotori" and "Kinosaki" consists of 4-car and 3-car formations, operating in a maximum formation of 7 cars.
◆ We are producing a model of the 289 series as it operates on the limited express "Kounotori" and "Kinosaki." The model will feature newly manufactured parts, including the roof and undercarriage with their altered appearance due to the removal of AC equipment, and the Kuroha 288, which has been converted to a half-compartment Green Car. This can be enjoyed in conjunction with various other vehicle products found in the Kansai region. Furthermore, by using the <28-169 289 Series Add-on Set Power Unit> released by Hobby Center Kato, it is also possible to run the 3-car train independently.
① Reproduces the FG408 (basic set) and FH302 (add-on set) formations of the Suita General Rolling Stock Center Fukuchiyama Branch.
② Reproduces the simplified roof equipment and reduced piping around the pantograph, with the AC equipment removed.
③ Reproduces the undercarriage with the equipment removed from the central part of the car body, and the front safety belt rack of the through-car leading car.
④ Reproduces the body and interior of the Kuroha 288, which has become a half-green car with a changed window arrangement.
⑤ Headlights/taillights illuminate. Kuha 288 and Kumoha 289 have a light switch. Reproduces the configuration with white LEDs only on the upper part of the driver's cab.
⑥ Smooth and quiet running performance achieved by adopting a slotless motor.
⑦ Includes front gangway door parts in the open position.
⑧ Reproduces the new type of lightning arrester seen on JR West vehicles in recent years.
⑨ Dummy coupler used on the front of the Kuroha 288. Reproduces the electrical connector cover with the JR mark.
⑩ KATO coupler close-coupling type (no hook) is used for the coupling section of the leading car with a gangway door. Electrical connector (2-stage) and coupler cover included.
⑪ Body-mounted close-coupling coupler (with hook) is standard equipment for the intermediate coupling section.
⑫ Car number and seat number displays are pre-printed. Destination display stickers included.
⑬ The contents of the 3-car add-on set can be stored in the book case of the 4-car basic set.
