Kato 10-2100 N Scale Nankai Electric Railway Series 6000 (Unpainted Stainless Steel) 6-Car Set – Special Edition
● The Nankai Electric Railway Series 6000 is a 20-meter class commuter EMU introduced in 1962 (Showa 37) for the Koya Line. A total of 72 cars were manufactured, and even after more than 60 years, 20 cars remain in active service today. The train features unpainted stainless-steel corrugated bodies, distinctive ventilators, and Pioneer III bogies. It was built by Tokyu Car Corporation (now J-TREC – Japan Transport Engineering Company) through a technical partnership with the American Budd Company, making it an all-stainless steel train.
In 1985 (Showa 60), the trains underwent major refurbishment and air-conditioning upgrades, along with bogie replacements. The roof became visually distinctive with rows of distributed air-conditioning units. Additionally, some SaHa 6600 cars use different bogies from the other cars, creating a unique appearance.
From 1992 (Heisei 4) onward, blue and orange stripe markings were added to the body, and the car number plates on the cab-side of the leading cars were changed to “NANKAI” logo nameplates. For 57 years after their debut, none of the cars were retired; however, with the introduction of new rolling stock, retirements began in 2019 (Reiwa 1). Today, 20 cars remain and continue to operate in regular service ranging from local trains to Rapid Express services, alongside newer rolling stock.
◆ The Nankai Series 6000 joins KATO’s Kansai private railway lineup. The model faithfully reproduces features typical of Showa-era stainless-steel trains, including the corrugated body panels, single-leaf doors, and distinctive rooftop equipment.

● Reproduces the post-modification appearance after conversion to close-coupling couplers, body refurbishment, air-conditioning upgrades, bogie replacement, addition of front and side destination displays, and installation of car number plates on the front gangway door
● Both cab cars feature illuminated headlights, taillights, service indicator lights, and front destination display (with light-off switch). Warm white LEDs are used. The service indicator lights can be set to both lit or assistant-driver side only by inserting or removing the light guide parts
● Accurately reproduces the distinctive corrugated stainless-steel body texture
● Recreates the crowded rooftop equipment, including distributed air conditioners, double-layer piping, and the cross-frame pantograph
● Bogies reflect the post-air-conditioning modification configuration: SaHa 6600 cars use Minden-Deutz FS-355, while other cars use S-type Minden FS-092/392
● Equipped with a slotless motor for smooth and quiet running performance
● All cars use body-mounted close-coupling couplers without hooks, and a single-stage electrical coupler and jumper receptacle for the cab end are included.
