TGV Sud-Est 5-Car Basic Set

● The TGV Sud-Est was the first TGV train introduced on the LGV South-Est line (Paris-Lyon), France's first high-speed rail line in Europe. After operating on conventional lines before the line's opening, it began service at a maximum speed of 260 km/h in 1981. Two years later, with the extension of the line, the maximum speed increased to 270 km/h. This surpassed the then-current maximum operating speed of Japan's Shinkansen, making it the world's fastest train and attracting considerable attention. Through various updates to both the line and the trains, the maximum speed increased to 300 km/h, and it continued to operate for a long period. Even now, after the actual trains have been retired, the original orange livery remains immensely popular.

◆ KATO's first European-style model, the orange "original TGV" TGV Sud-Est, has been renewed to current standards and will be released as a model train set. In addition to newly reproducing the uniquely shaped pantograph for AC sections, it is also possible to operate two train sets coupled together, just like the real train. It is recommended not only for operation in combination with other TGV series, but also as a collector's item.

② Reproduces the appearance of the mid-1980s, before the intermediate cars were fitted with air-spring bogies and the SNCF mark on the front was painted orange.
③ Reproduces the coupler cover with the "SNCF" lettering on the front and the distinctive front shape from the front glass to the roof.
④ Newly created AC pantograph (rear side) with a complex shape.
⑤ Beautifully reproduced illustrations of the train set's unique nickname (84 series... "DIEPPE", 08 series... "ROUEN").
⑥ Equipped with a GM-5 motor with flywheel.
⑦ Headlights/taillights illuminate (using warm white LEDs). Includes a dummy circuit board for turning off headlights/taillights when coupled.
⑧ By removing the coupler cover on the front of the locomotive and using the included drawbar, it is possible to recreate a 20-car formation just like the real train. ⑨ DCC compatible (6-pin socket compatible with M1 and M2. However, it is necessary to change the CV29 value setting of the decoder installed in M2 to reverse the control of the headlights/taillights).
⑩ The sleeve for the special edition 10-car set is a special design.
