Kiha 181 Series JR Shikoku Color 5-Car Set
●This product features the JR Shikoku Kiha 181 series, which played an active role as a limited express train connecting various parts of Shikoku.
The Kiha 181 series in Shikoku served as a limited express diesel railcar connecting various parts of the country from the JNR (Japanese National Railways) era, and 44 units were inherited after the transition to JR. After the transition to JR, the paint scheme was changed to JR Shikoku's corporate colors of ivory and sky blue, completely refreshing its image. Unique changes were also seen, such as the replacement of the seats with reclining seats similar to the Kiha 185, and the conversion of the KiRo 180 type into the KiRoHa 180 type, a half-green car, in response to the increase in limited express services and the shortening of train formations. It operated as a limited express train on the Dosan Line ("Nanpu," "Ashizuri," "Shimanto") and the Yosan Line ("Shiokaze," "Ishizuchi," "Uwakai") until its withdrawal from regular service in 1993.
◆Enjoy the various limited express trains that supported JR Shikoku in its heyday. The "Shiokaze/Ishizuchi" 8-car set includes a different lineup from the 5-car set, featuring the Kiha 181 series 100-series (a Kiha 180 converted into a leading car), the KiRoHa 180 series (a Kiha 180 converted into a Kiha 180), and the Kiha 181 series with shutter-type typhoons. By combining each set, it is possible to recreate various train formations seen on the actual train.
① Reproduces the train formations belonging to JR Shikoku Takamatsu Depot around 1991.
② Reproduces the appearance of the Kiha 181 with the tablet catcher and protective plate removed, JR radio antenna installed, emergency doors and body bottom louvers closed, and dampers removed from the coupling ends.
③ Reproduces the rain gutters on the front of the Kiha 181. Different typhoon shapes are created for each car (shutter: Kiha 181-38, 103 / slit: Kiha 181-6, 34, 39, 40). Kiha 181-39 is not equipped with a snowplow. Furthermore, the Kiha 181 cars that are placed in the middle of the train have gangway connections attached to their front ends.
④ The "Shiokaze/Ishizuchi" 8-car set includes the Kiha 181 100 series, which has been converted into a leading car. The toilet and washroom windows at the ends of the car are sealed off, the equipment room is shorter and there are no small windows adjacent to the equipment room, and the form without rain gutters at the front is reproduced.
⑤ The KiRoHa 180-2/-3 are converted KiRo 180 100 series cars, and the form with a sales preparation room in the original toilet and washroom location and a small window is reproduced. The KiRoHa 180-7 in the 8-car set is a modified KiRo 180 200 series car with large windows similar to the KiHa 180, and reproduces the form in which the conductor's compartment and part of the passenger compartment have been made smaller due to the installation of a conductor's compartment, and the drip molding remains on the closed emergency door.
⑥ Beautifully expresses the ivory and sky blue coloring that completely changed the image from the JNR era.
⑦ The H-rubber of each type is expressed in gray *7
⑧ Slotless motor is used for smooth and quiet running.
⑨ Head/tail lights and nameplate light up (with on/off switch). White LED used.
