The 701 Series was introduced with the aim of replacing passenger trains and JNR-type electric trains operating in the Tohoku
region for commuter and suburban transport. In 1993, it was newly manufactured and deployed as a 20-meter, three-door,
lightweight stainless steel electric train of the suburban AC type.
● Taking into consideration one-person operation it implements a VVVF inverter control system. It also comes with
longitudinal seating for ease of movement within the train. It is available in formations of 2 to 4 cars and is operated in
configurations suited to the transportation demand.
◆ We are releasing the 4-car and 2-car formations active in the Sendai region. On top of the distinctive aspects of the 4-car
formation (which is not designed for one-person operation) and the 2-car formation (which is designed for one-person
operation), we have updated the shape of the skirt for a more realistic feel. As each set includes a motored car, you can enjoy
a wide variety of configurations, such as 2+2, 2+2+2, 2+4, etc., in addition to the 2-car and 4-car standalone formations.
◆ Starting from this release, the products will feature a slotless motor. The item number, price, and JAN code have been
changed accordingly.

Features
① The F4-29 formation (4-cars) and F2-24 formation (2-cars) from the Sendai Rolling Stock Center have been recreated.
② The height of the skirt has been updated for more realism. Includes a body mount with 2 variations for the positioning of
the jumper plug.
③ Passenger doors with steps, the characteristic AC train equipment around the pantograph, and other details have been
reproduced. While closely resembling the DC E127 series of the same design, the unique differences have also been
realistically recreated.
④ The 4-car formation (not compatible with one-person operation) and the 2-car formation (compatible with one-personoperation) have distinct side designs.
• 4-car: No external speaker on the side skirt and no entry/exit signs by the doors.
• 2-car: Includes an external speaker on the side skirt and entry/exit signs by the doors.
⑤ The head/tail-lights and front displays are lit with warm-white LEDs (off-switch included).
⑥ Each car is equipped with body-mounted tight-lock couplers without hooks. An electric coupler that can be attached to the lead section is also included.
⑦ The front display '仙台' ('Sendai') is already installed. Interchangeable front display signs and destination stickers are included.
⑧ The slotless motor enables smooth and silent operation. A demagnetizing plate has already been installed.
⑨ Both sets have the powered car configured as KUMOHA 701. Single bogie drive. Equipped with a traction tire. DCC friendly.
⑩ The 4-car set comes in the classic 6-car bookcase, allowing you to additionally store the 2-car set.
