(HO) DD51 Hokutosei Livery
●The DD51 type was introduced in 1962 as the main diesel locomotive for non-electrified main lines. At its peak, there were 649 units produced, and variations arose during the mass production process, including those for cold and warm regions, and passenger and freight service. The DD51s that played an active role in passenger transport in Hokkaido incorporated the image of the sleeper express "Hokutosei," which was created with the opening of the Seikan Tunnel in 1988. From the summer of that year onward, all units adopted the appearance of Blue No. 20 with a gold stripe and the Hokutosei logo on the cab.
◆We will be re-releasing the DD51, which mainly played an active role in pulling the sleeper express "Hokutosei," in HO gauge. This model is ideal as a locomotive for pulling the "Hokutosei" sleeper express train, such as the <1-574 Sleeper Express "Hokutosei" Oha 25 500 Lobby Car> scheduled for release in April 2026, and the <3-537 24 Series Sleeper Express "Hokutosei" Orohane 24/Sushi 24 2-Car Set> scheduled for release in May 2026.
◆The motor specifications will be changed from this product onwards. Accordingly, the product number, price, and JAN code will also change.
