About the actual train
The JR Kyushu 811 series is an AC-type train manufactured from 1989 (Heisei 1). It achieved a top speed of 120 km/h through the adoption of a stainless steel body for weight reduction and high-performance main equipment. The interior features all-reversible cross seats, and the Kuha 810 type is equipped with a toilet.
It is mainly used for local and rapid trains on the Kagoshima Main Line, Nippo Main Line, and Nagasaki Main Line in northern Kyushu, but was also used as a temporary express train when it first appeared.
From 2016 (Heisei 28), a renewal project was carried out, including the updating of control equipment and a change in exterior design under the supervision of Eiji Mitooka. In addition, the seats were converted to long seats and wheelchair spaces were installed.
