Prototype:

From 1962, Deutz offered the KG 230 B, a two-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotive in the performance class of the Köf III. Its air-cooled, twelve-cylinder A12L714 engine produced 230 hp at 2000 rpm. The robust design proved its worth on numerous industrial and factory railways, for example at BP, Thyssen-Krupp, VTG, and Mannesmann. Many locomotives are still in service today – a testament to the reliability of the Deutz shunting locomotives.
