-車輛介紹-
台鐵EMU700型電聯車
EMU700型電聯車是台灣第一次進行全車自製的電聯車組，
其端面外觀設計將行之多年的兩扇窗加中間貫通門形式改為
全寬式駕駛窗，使駕駛的視野更為寬廣。車內部座椅如同台
北捷運的「非」字形排列方式，且採用絨布材質提高乘坐舒
適度，另也在窗戶上增設遮陽簾，車門上方加裝列車到站資
訊顯示器。EMU700型電聯車目前配屬於新竹機務段及嘉義
機務段，2007年8月開始投入營運。
採用新式無搖枕梁之空氣調節彈簧轉向架，故列車行駛中的
震動比較不劇烈，為台鐵行駛較為平穩的列車之一。而其加
、減速性能也極為優越，尤其減速時搭配電力回生電軔及電
氣指令式踏面軔機，使其從最高速（110公里）到完全停止
的距離僅需580公尺，為台鐵車輛之最。
本車型一共引進40組160輛（編號為EMU701至EMU740），行
駛時以固定兩組八輛為一編成運行。
