[What is the 0 Series Shinkansen?

The JNR 0 Series Shinkansen debuted on October 1, 1964, alongside the opening of the Tokaido Shinkansen line, as Japan’s first commercial high-speed train.
It was the world’s first train to exceed 200 km/h in commercial service, inspiring high-speed rail development in countries like France and Germany.
This product is modeled after the "Hikari 1" train, a 12-car formation that departed from Tokyo Station at 6:00 a.m. as the inaugural run. The coupling covers replicate the design seen on early 1st and 2nd production units, without handrails. The iconic acrylic “Hikari Front” was designed to emit a faint glow from the light filtering through the marker lights.
The side signs, which were later removed, are represented with printed details.
This set comes in a sleeve case and is a special limited initial production.
