KATO 176-5628 N-gauge EMD SD90/43MAC CP #9159 "Pulling for United Way" diesel locomotive

The EMD SD90/43MAC is a 6,000-horsepower, C-C axle configuration, AC-motor-driven electric diesel locomotive. It weighs 400,000 pounds (about 181 metric tons), is over 80 feet (about 24 meters) long, and has an amazing 4,300 horsepower traction. The SD90/43MAC is ranked alongside the SD80MAC as one of the most powerful single-engine diesel locomotives in the United States.

This model has gone through three major production versions. The SD90/43MAC was originally designed to be equipped with a 6,000-horsepower engine, but due to stability and reliability factors, most railway companies chose to use a smaller but more reliable 4,300-horsepower engine, and did not replace it even when the manufacturer offered an upgrade option in the future.
The most obvious feature of the appearance is the large radiator structure that extends to the width of the vehicle.

At the "United Way" ceremony held in Calgary in 1999, Canadian Pacific Railway launched a specially painted SD90/43MAC with the United Way logo and the words "Pulling for United Way" painted on the body as part of a fundraising campaign.
After the ceremony, the locomotive was put into freight transportation tasks across Canada, and continued to support United Way activities in various places until 2019.
Since then, the car has replaced the cockpit and transformed into another model SD70ACU, and the car number has been changed to 7018. After changing to a special retro paint (Heritage Paint), it is still active today.

It uses a powerful KATO five-pole motor with a double brass flywheel for strong traction.
The headlight has a direction switching function and the number plate is printed.
Equipped with a KATO magnetic connector.
Supports DCC, is a DCC Friendly mechanism, and can be directly installed with the corresponding decoder.
DCC upgrades can be performed using the Digitrax DN163K2 or Train Control Systems K2D4 plug-in decoders.
